Go directly to the Diploma of Business (FM) Diploma PurposeTo meet the challenges of globalisation, increased competition, best practices, managing knowledge and the increasing complexity of work, many organisations are recognising that effective workplace leadership and team approach are critical to success. The changing workplace has led to the development of a significantly different role for Frontline Managers. Todays Frontline Managers have a major leadership role and are responsible for facilitating, developing and supporting team cooperation within a strategic framework. The focus is on tactical and strategic issues, looking at the big picture and often evaluating the direction of the organisation. The standards, ethics and values they display will to a significant degree, have effects on the performance of both individuals and teams within an organisation. Diploma Structure
The Diploma qualification involves a set of eleven (11) units of competence, eight (8) core units of competence and three (3) elective units of competence appropriate for the workplace context. There are no prerequisites for entry, although you will need to have opportunities in the workplace to demonstrate application of knowledge and skills on the job. Program MethodologyPart 1: Pre-program readingsThe pre-program component involves learning activities and readings that provide a theoretical framework for the specified program. It will familiarise you with the topic and assist in developing the knowledge and skills needed for the formal off the job component. You will need to allow adequate time for pre-program preparation. Part 2: Formal off the job programThe formal off the job learning component of each program is designed to extend your knowledge and skills and develop managerial skills and support workplace learning and assessment which are an integral part of the Diploma. Part 3: Work-based assessment projectEach program has a work-based assessment project, which reflects the application of content from the program and aligns with the requisite units of competency. The assessment project allows you to demonstrate the program learning outcomes in a real work situation. The assessment project needs to be submitted within eight (8) weeks of the completion of each program. DurationThe programs are offered flexibly to enable individuals to complete the qualification within six (6) months. Individuals may choose to enrol in a single program or may continue on to complete the qualification. Programs may be undertaken in any order. The goal is to ensure individual learning needs are addressed and ongoing learning needs are supported. All off the job programs are conducted on UTS Training & Development Services premises, unless otherwise specified. Target GroupThe Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) BSB51001 is recommended for individuals who have responsibility for team or business unit performance and who are required to make a broader contribution to the development and implementation of enterprise strategy. AccreditationThe Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) BSB51001 is nationally accredited through the Vocational Education Training and Advisory Board (VETAB) and is aligned to the Australian National Frontline Management Competency Standards. Mutual RecognitionUTS Training & Development Services acknowledges and supports mutual recognition and to this end will accept the credentials (Statements of Attainment or qualifications), where relevant, issued by other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) based in any State/Territory of Australia. Recognition Assessment ProcessMany individuals may already be competent in one or more of the Frontline Management competencies. Recognition assessment processes are available for each Unit of Competence based on relevant workplace experience, formal training or other expertise. Recognition will involve your submission of evidence in a portfolio form and be assessed by our assessors. CustomisationTo enhance the learning experience, UTS Training & Development Services will customise any learning and assessment program to meet the specific needs of your organisation or industry. Programs can be delivered in-company or at UTS Training & Development Services premises. AssessmentAll programs in the qualification are assessed through on and off the job assessment tasks and a work-based project, which requires you to compile a range of evidence to demonstrate competency. These assessments consolidate the knowledge and skills gained during a learning and assessment program to enable validation and transfer of learning to the individual workplace context.Successful completion and demonstrated competence of a single unit of competence entitles you to the award of a Statement of Attainment for the relevant unit of competence.Successful completion and demonstrated competence of the set of 11 units of competence qualifies you for the award of a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) BSB51001.On completion of this qualification, candidates will have achieved the nationally recognised standards for Frontline Management Competencies at level five of the Australian Qualifications Framework.The Diploma must be completed within two (2) years of commencement of a learning and assessment program to maintain currency of competency.InclusionsAll learning and assessment programs include comprehensive learning materials, assessment, ongoing support and certification on completion.
